Resorts & Hotels in Belize

I want to take a trip to Belize! Where should I stay?

So you’re ready to take a trip to Belize. Is it your first time? Then you’re in the right spot to research for the best Belize Resorts and Hotels. If you’ve been to Belize before, maybe you can check out some of my recommendations for other parts of the country!

I’ll be the first to tell you that your accommodations are just as important as the destination that you choose. I’ve made a list of hotels and resorts in Belize for you to choose from, based on your destination of choice:

Ambergris Caye Resorts

Ambergris Caye is the most popular destination in Belize, and rightfully so! If you love the ocean, this is the destination for you. It is a paradise for divers, snorkelers, fisherman,  and sailors. Other fun activities include flyboarding, stand up paddle boarding, bird watching, parasailing, skydiving, jet skiing, and most importantly, bar hopping! San Pedro is full of hotels and there are dozens of beautiful, beachfront Ambergris Caye Resorts and Hotels along the coast to choose from.

Caye Caulker Resorts & Hotels

Caye Caulker is the sister island of Ambergris Caye, located a 30-minute boat ride to the south, and offers most of the same water sports activities. It has amazing diving and snorkeling in the surrounding reef and a laid back lifestyle on the beaches. Caye Caulker is known more for its backpackers status and many hostels open to world travelers. There are a couple Caye Caulker Resorts and Hotels on the beach to choose from as well as a few cabanas and bed and breakfasts in town.

Placencia Resorts & Hotels

Placencia is the second most popular beachfront destination in Belize, offering some amazing diving, snorkeling, and sailing. It is especially known for diving with Whale Sharks in the months of March thru June at the Gladden Split. This variety, despite its tremendous size, does not pose any danger to humans. Placencia is a peninsula, surrounded by the ocean on three sides, giving it the feel of an island. There are also many beachfront Placencia Resorts & Hotels to choose from.

Belize City Resorts & Hotels

Belize City is where the international airport is and so almost everyone who arrives in Belize is forced to go through it. Unless you have business in the city, we do recommend that you go through it as it is not very safe. It is the most populous area in the country but has very little for tourists to do, except to travel through it on your way to some other amazing destination. We do have a couple Belize City Resorts and Hotels you can choose from if you absolutely must stay there.

Cayo Resorts and Hotels

Cayo is where you want to stay if you want to experience some of the amazing mainland activities Belize has to offer. There are dozens of ancient Mayan Ruins located here such as Actun Chapat, Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), Cahal Pech, Caracol, El Pilar, Tikal, or Xunantunich. Cayo also offers cave tubing and zip lining for the more adventurous as well as hiking and horseback riding. There are quite a few jungle retreats and Cayo Resorts and Hotels to choose from.

Hopkins Resorts and Hotels

Hopkins is the newest destination spot in Belize. It is located on the southern coast of the mainland, which gives you access to all the activities on the mainland, on the ocean and they even have a chocolate tour. Hopkins started off as a quaint fishing village, has grown into the cultural center of Belize and if home to the Garifuna. Most of the resorts located there are beachfront but back up to the jungle. There are some amazing Hopkins Resorts and Hotels to choose from.

Orange Walk Resorts & Hotels

Orange Walk is located inland and is best known for its ancient Mayan Ruins such as Altun Ha, La Milpa and Lamanai. It is a real nature lover’s dream with its many protected areas, the rainforest, and reserves surrounded by farms of potatoes and sugar cane fields. Many Mennonites have chosen to settle here, giving the area feeling of yesteryear and a slower lifestyle. There are a few Orange Walk Resorts and Hotels to choose from as well as a couple bed and breakfasts.

Punta Gorda Resorts & Hotels

Punta Gorda, known by locals as PG, is a small, quiet town in the south of Belize. It is one of the best places to stay in Belize to get the authentic culture and feel of the people. As it is located on the sea, giving it astonishing diving, snorkeling, sailing and all types of fishing. If you are looking for a vacation away from the crowds, priced for the budget conscious and with plenty of things to do, PG just might be your spot. There are a few nice, beachfront Punta Gorda Resorts & Hotels to choose from.
