Belize is an excellent place to experience fun in the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Rent a Sea Doo and investigate the reef, get up and ride behind a wakeboarding boat, or go for a parasail ride. Parasailing in Belize means flying above the crystal blue waters of San Pedro, savoring the breathtaking bird’s eye view of this island paradise.
Parasailing is a recreational kiting adventure in which you are pulled behind a boat while attached to a uniquely designed parachute known as a parasail wing. The rigging joins you to the parasail, which is attached to the boat by the tow rope. As the boat rides off, it carries the parasail and you up into the sky. The boat is powerful enough to take one, two or three people behind it at once. You, as the rider, have little or no power over the parachute so just sit back and enjoy a fun ride with an awe-inspiring view.

My Parasail Ride
Here is a first-hand account of my parasailing in Belize. I received a briefing from the captain. He basically told me I just needed to get hooked into my rigging, then sit in my harness and let the wind do the work and I would get hoisted up into the sky.
- Parachute ready? Check!
- Rigging attached to the rider? Check!
- Rider Ready? Check!
I sat on the back of the boat and then slowly and smoothly…I was flying.
I am not able to think of a better way to experience this view of the island. A helicopter ride is fun, exciting, marvelous, but kind of expensive. Parasailing in Belize is the way to go for sure.
It amazingly felt perfectly safe, somewhat breathtaking, but definitely not scary and the view is utterly unmatched.
The exact details for those who need it
One of the guides assisted me into the rigging. It’s just one piece, so you simply slip it on. There is nothing to tie, just a little squeezing and adjusting. It feels entirely safe. There was a little shuffle between the parachute guide and the captain. Then comes the best part; when the wind catches the parachute I rise up. I felt no jerking and wasn’t even scary. It was awesome. I would do this every day. This is the least expensive way to see this astonishing view of Ambergris Caye; from reef to the lagoon and even back to Acquafino Resort. They skillfully dipped my toes into the sea on my way back in and to my astonishment, the ocean is actually warmer than the air. Then, before I even realized, I was back standing on the boat.
